Pennsylvania Main Street

Historic Pennsylvania Avenue Mission

The Mission of the Historic Pennsylvania Avenue Main Street program is to provide leadership, guidance counsel to the Historic Pennsylvania Avenue Main Street communities through organization, promotion, design and economic development to make our community a better place to live, work, play and worship.

History and Benefits

The National Trust for Historic Preservation (NTHP) established the National main Street Center in 1980 to support and encourage the revitalization of Main Street based on historic preservation and sound business practices.  To date, all 50 states and over 2,800 communities participate in the Main Street program nationwide.  What began as a historic preservation program has evolved into one of the largest economic development programs in the United States.

In January 2010 the Historic Pennsylvania Avenue Main Street became a program within the Druid Heights Community Development Corporation.   Historic Pennsylvania Avenue Main Street implements and administers the Four Point Approach of Main Street that was designed to match resources available in our community.
