The Argus Program’s Welcoming Day

The mission of the Argus program is to support young people who are currently in (or leaving) the juvenile justice system. On August 23, 2010 that commitment was reinforced. Guest speakers participated in an open house meet and greet to discuss how they overcame some of the same obstacles these young people are facing. It was inspiring to listen to these stories and realize that past mistakes do not determine what the future holds. With the encouragement of Druid Heights CDC and the Argus program each of the participants will have an opportunity to become a productive member of society, and will in turn support another generation to make the right decisions.

The Best Foot Forward Campaign

The Druid Heights Community Resource Director with the Partnership of Empowerment Temple will donate 100 pair of new brand named tennis shoes to students in need at Frederick Douglass High School. The “Best Foot Forward Campaign” will be held at Empowerment Temple Church 8am-1pm, Monday, September 6, 2010. All students must be preregistered and present in order to receive merchandise. All merchandise will be given out on a first come, first serve bases. Students must present registration card at the time of entry. “Best Foot Forward” is a community event sponsored by Empowerment Temple Church.

Druid Heights’ Clean Up Efforts Doesn’t Go Unnoticed

Yesterday over 100 people consisting of the Druid Heights CDC staff, Youth Works workers and volunteers came together in an effort to clean up the Druid Heights community. We were split up into groups and deployed like troops. You couldn’t open your eyes without seeing one of our bright yellow shirts labeled “Druid Heights CDC Staff” and the sounds of brooms and shovels scratching the pavement. It was a huge success and even WJZ 13 caught up with the crew. We would like to give a special THANK YOU to The Garden Community Church. To more pictures from this wonderful day click here!
